  3. THEATER BARN HONORS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH WITH SPECIAL GHOST LIGHT SESSION

On Wednesday, April 1, Barb Jennes, the inaugural poet laureate of Ridgefield, will be joining Pamme Jones, Executive Director of the Ridgefield Theater Barn, for a special Ghost Light Session. Initiated two weeks ago, these bi-weekly sessions on Facebook live, are unscripted musings, involving stories, song, or whatever the presenter has in mind, bathed in the theaters ghost light. The series has not been limited to these live sessions, as the Barn has thrown out the challenge for patrons and creative types to send in their own submissions, a performance or story, or post on social media with the hashtag, #RTBstealingtheghostlight.Tonight, in honor of the beginning of National Poetry Month and the appointment of Ridgefields first-ever poet laureate, the Theater Barn invited Barb to share the ghost light (at a safe distance). Pamme and Barb have known each other over 10 years, since Barb, a former English teacher, taught Pammes kids, so the idea seemed obvious. Barb, whose passion for poetry resonated with the selection committee, has placed highly in several poetry competitions, including 2nd place in the 2019 CT Poetry Societys competition. The three-year term of poet laureate is the first of its kind in Ridgefield and will run from April 2020 until March 2023.More information about the Ghost Light sessions and how to steal the ghost light is available on the Theater Barn website, www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org. More information about the Ridgefields poet laureate is available at www.ridgefieldlibrary.org
