This Pulitzer Prize-nominated play traces the story of one woman’s triumphant journey out of a difficult childhood in Mississippi through the civil rights movement and beyond, offering us a gripping tale depicting perseverance, growth, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Westport Museum for History & Culture and Westport Country Playhouse are collaborating on a micro-exhibit entitled “Music of the American Experience: Black Excellence and the Sounds of the Jazz Age,” installed in the Playhouse lobby, from April 11 through 29.

In conjunction with the civil rights issues explored in Westport Country Playhouse’s current production, “From the Mississippi Delta,” the Westport chapter of the League of Women Voters (LWV) will have political information available in the Playhouse lobby, now through October 30.
Westport Country Playhouse will host “Black Excellence Night,” a free-of-charge, communal celebration of Black life and history, on Wednesday, October 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Playhouse's Lucille Lortel White Barn Center.

Westport Country Playhouse announces its 2022 Joanne Woodward Internship class of seven theater career aspirants who will enhance their professional skills and gain on-the-job experience working directly with Playhouse senior staff from June through mid-August.
As Westport Country Playhouse prepares to open its 2022 Season on April 5, the historic theater is seeking volunteer ushers to greet patrons, scan tickets, distribute programs, answer audience questions, and direct patrons to their seats.
