Known as "The voice of gold African", Salif Keita has built an own and unmistakable sound throughout his career, mixing modern rhythms such as jazz, funk and rock with traditional music from Mali.
This invaluable artist has toured many countries of the world, sharing their work of high-level and transmitting its message of peace and tolerance in all scenarios. Salif Keita is a great teacher and has positioned itself as one of the most important voices that Africa has given to the world.
Salifou Salif Keïta was born on August 25, 1949 in Djoliba (Mali), on the banks of the Niger River. It is an albino (and leaves little, with his mother's repudiation of his father). Society where it grows in fact attributed evil powers to albinos. Salif had a lonely childhood, regularly harassed by peers as a result of their skin color. She dreams to become a Professor but, despite having followed the proper career and be a good student, a few vista problems prevent you from follow this dream. The musical career of Salif Keïta, long and bright already does not have to be proven, only the musical territories still unknown and unpublished artistic encounters could stimulate your inspiration... In fact is one of those encounters that is at the root of his latest album: Talé, which made in January 2011 with the French composer Philippe Cohen Solal, of the famous and successful Gotan Project.
