Art intertwines with life in Wheeldon's modern retelling of one of the most famous ballets of all time. Set in the studios of the Paris Opera Ballet, a company dancer falls in love with his beautiful partner, a star ballerina who is being pursued by an arts patron with bad intentions. A ballet-within-a-ballet, Wheeldon's version combines classical elements with a touch of fantasy, as lavish sets and breathtaking choreography take hold in this timeless story danced to Tchaikovsky's mesmerizing score.

The Auditorium Theatre (Chicago's landmark stage at 50 E. Ida B. Wells Drive) launches its 2022-23 Season with the Chicago debut of the Kyiv City Ballet of Ukraine in two powerful performances only, Saturday September 24 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 25 at 3pm.

Considered "the world's greatest dance company" (The Independent), the Bolshoi Ballet, Russia's premier ballet company, makes a triumphant return to Chicago and to the historic Auditorium Theatre in 2020 following a 16-year absence with Yuri Grigorovich's Swan Lake. This engagement is the company's only Midwest stop on its 2020 United States tour. The company last performed in Chicago at the Auditorium in 2004.
