Josh and Alex are a gay male married couple in an open relationship. The two invite another man, Darius, to share their bed one night. When a new intimate connection begins to form, all three men must come to terms with their individual definitions of love, loyalty, and trust as futures are questioned, relationships are shaken, and commitments are challenged.

Casting and production team have been announced for Pride Films and Plays Chicago premiere of DEX & ABBY - a new comedy by playwright Allan Baker. Dex and Abby are dogs with unique personalities, and when their owners move in together, all four members of the family have to figure out the rules of this new territory. Funny, touching, and a heartwarming tribute to our relationship with our furry best friends, DEX & ABBY is a comic delight. Daniel Washelesky, who previously assistant directed AFTERGLOW with Pride Films and Plays, is directing. The press opening is Monday, February 24, 2020, following previews from Thursday, February 20 through Sunday, February 23.

Pride Films and Plays will mount a fully staged production this summer of GRINDR THE OPERA (An Unauthorized Parody) - the satirical musical about the gay hookup app that changed the landscape of gay relationships. The musical was produced in the UK last year, in an extended, sold-out production at London's Above the Stag Theatre (the UK's only full-time professional LGBT+ theater), and won the 2019 Off West End Award (or OFFIE) for "Best New Musical" this past February. GRINDR THE OPERA, by New York-based composer-lyricist-playwright Erik Ransom, was an entry in the 2018 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival following staged readings in New York in 2015 and 2017 and a full production in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in fall 2017.

Marc Prince will assume the role of Josh, one-half of a gay male couple that invites a third man into their bed, in Pride Films and Plays' Chicago Premiere of S. Asher Gelman's AFTERGLOW. Prince has most recently been seen on Chicago stages in Hell in a Handbag's POSEIDON! and as Horse in THE FULL MONTY with Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre. In 2018, he played Sarge in Pride Films and Plays's YANK! A WWII LOVE STORY.

BUYER & CELLAR star Scott Gryder to lead cabaret of songs made famous by Barbra Streisand Emmy Award winner and Chicago Musical Theatre and Cabaret performer Scott Gryder, who in Pride Films and Plays' current production of BUYER & CELLAR plays a struggling actor that manages a make-believe shopping mall in the basement of Barbra Streisand's Malibu home, will lead a cabaret of Ms. Streisand's songs on Monday, April 22 - just two days before her 76th birthday - in The Broadway, Pride Arts Center. Gryder and Music Director Adam LaSalle will be joined in this tribute to the Emmy, Grammy and Oscar-winning actress, songwriter and director by a cast including Jerome Riley Jr., Anslee Rainwater, Missy Aguilar, Matthew Huston, Adam Hibma, and Kimberly Lawson. The concert will be directed by BUYER & CELLAR director Donterrio Johnson.

Emmy Award winner and Chicago Musical Theatre and Cabaret performer Scott Gryder has been cast as the principal character in Pride Films and Plays' upcoming production of Jonathan Tolins's one-man comedy BUYER & CELLAR, according to the production's director Donterrio Johnson. Gryder will play all the characters in Tolin's comedy, but most notably, the role of Alex More - a struggling actor who takes a job managing a make-believe shopping mall in the basement of Barbra Streisand's Malibu home.

Pride Films and Plays will mount Jonathan Tolin's one-man play BUYER & CELLAR in the Broadway Theater of the Pride Arts Center, according to the company's Executive Director David Zak. The production will be directed by Chicago-based Donterrio Johnson, whose many acting credits include his Jeff Award-winning Judas Iscariot in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR for Theo Ubique and most recently, his role as the Leading Player in Mercury Theater's production of PIPPIN. Johnson has also performed as an actor with Pride Films and Plays, in productions including UNDER A RAINBOW FLAG.
