No Easy Road to Freedom is a 1-hour educational show that has been touring through schools and community centers and will be present as a special engagement for the Lebanon Historical Society. Through poetry, drama, and song, these actors journey through history with individual stories of bravery and determination that illustrate the themes of diversity, oppression, tolerance, and acceptance. Including scenes on immigration, womens rights, the Civil Rights Movement, the Holocaust, Matthew Shepard, the election of the First African American President and more. Gretna Theatre Celebrates Black History Month With An Educational Show On Diversity

Gretna Theatre will be putting on a special performance of Tom Quinn's No Easy Road To Freedom: A Lesson In American Diversity at the Lebanon County Historical Society on February 26. The one-hour educational show tackles the subject of American diversity throughout history using poetry, drama, and song. Some of the events that are covered in the play include women's rights, the Holocaust, the civil rights movement, and the election of the country's first African American president. Lancaster Native Johnathan S. Perkins will join the conversation on today to moderate a post-show discussion. Johnathan is a young speaker and higher education attorney who focuses on diversity and inclusion.

One of south-central Pennsylvania’s few professional theatres, and one of the oldest summer theatres in America, Gretna Theatre is located in the arts/resort community of Mt. Gretna, PA where theatre has been produced at this same location since 1927! The original Playhouse dates back to 1892 when it was built as the centerpiece of the newly-created Pennsylvania Chautauqua. By the summer of 1995, a new Playhouse was complete. Gretna Theatre, which produces the seasons of summer stock theatrical shows, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which rents the Mt. Gretna Playhouse for its productions and works in conjunction with the professional unions of Actors' Equity Association and Stage Directors and Choreographers. Many Broadway stars have performed at Gretna Theatre - including Bernadette Peters, Charlton Heston, Faith Prince, Laurie Beechman, and Sally Struthers.
