PREFORMANCES WITH ALLISON CHARNEY Continues 10th Season February 11

PREFORMANCES WITH ALLISON CHARNEY continues its 10th season on Monday, February 11th at 7:30pm at Merkin Concert Hall.

This concert will feature PREFORMANCES' signature "un-Googleable insights" from all of its performers, including New York Philharmonic principal cellist, Carter Brey, who will grace the PREFORMANCES' stage for the first time, playing Mendelssohn's D-Major Cello Sonata with pianist Donna Weng Friedman in preparation for their upcoming concert at Princeton University.

Principal flutist of the Orchestra of St. Luke's, Elizabeth Mann returns to the series with a performance of Copland's Duo for Flute and Piano with PREFORMANCES' official collaborative pianist, Craig Ketter. Series founder and artistic director, soprano Allison Charney prepares operatic arias by Cilea and Verdi for her upcoming solo performances with orchestras throughout the country. And co-concertmaster of both the Orchestra of St. Luke's and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, violinist Eriko Sato will make her series debut playing Lili Boulanger's heartbreakingly beautiful "Nocturne".

Ms. Charney, Ms. Sato and Ms. Weng Friedman will also join forces to present the final movement from Kim Sherman's THE CLARA CYCLE, which receives its world premiere at Steinway Hall in honor of Women's History Month as part of the new series Her/Music; Her/Story. And, as always, Ms. Charney's signature closing song, Strauss' "Zueignung" will complete the 90-minute program, performed without intermission.

Throughout its previous nine seasons, PREFORMANCES with Allison Charney has presented over 100 of the preeminent musicians of our time. Notable appearances include those by former New York Philharmonic Music Director, Alan Gilbert; Metropolitan Opera stars William Burden and Maria Zifchak; violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins of Broadway's "Fiddler on the Roof" fame, and concert pianists Joel Fan and Navah Perlman, just to name a few. In addition, the series has presented new classical works by composers Mary Ellen Childs, Russell Platt, Michael Ching, Moshe Knoll and Kim D. Sherman.
