Set in a depressed steel town in Sheffield, England, the story follows a group of unemployed men facing financial hardship and a crisis of masculinity. Gaz, a charismatic but down-on-his-luck former factory worker, witnesses the newfound confidence of his wife after attending a Chippendales performance.

Inspired by this unexpected revelation, Gaz hatches a daring plan – to form an all-male striptease act, "The Full Monty."
