Highland Guy, moderators, and general readers, please take this in the spirit in which it is intended... debate and discussion. I have a question.
Only last week, you said you would happily fly 11 hours non-stop to see Stephanie J. Block perform in Kiss Me, Kate.
Answer honestly... do you see a link between a privileged luxury like that, and the subject of this thread? Is it REALLY worth paying such a high price?

Another big storm on the way in a couple of days. Friends are gathering sand bags to help prevent water in their garages and homes. We had minor flooding in our street, but escaped anything major. Time will tell.

The second storm begins this afternoon and is expected to continue through the week. High winds, lots of rain and significant flooding is expected. As a precaution, we have stocked up on necessities. Two friends who live in a low-lying area subject to flooding are spending the week with us. The homeless are being assisted. Please send your positive thoughts to those Californians impacted by this storm. Thanks.

I tried to engage in civilized discussion with you on this topic, but you blanked me. As you always do.
I find it hard to reconcile the fact that you are concerned with this crisis, while at the same time passively aggressively posting about your frequent long-haul travel.

Actually, instead of expressing some concern of many others in SD due to the storms you took the opportunity to take a shot at the OP. Really, do you think he is the only one that fairly often flies from coast to coast. Just for the fun of it, how much of a "carbon footprint" is Taylor Swift going to leave when she flies on her private jet from Japan to Las Vegas to see her BF play in the Super Bowl - lol. BTW - the OP made no mention of climate change crisis. He posted how the storm is affecting those in SD.

That is just NOT TRUE.
I have been expressing concern for victims through my ACTIONS. Not "postitive thoughts" on my flight to London to see Stephanie J Block. Some of us actually REALIZE what is at stake here, and the consequences of the privileges we indulge in. I have tried repeatedly to engage Highland Guy and others on this topic, but they continue to ignore my warnings. This does not stop them from starting threads like this, oblivious to their own role in events.
Also, why do you not defend ME in the same way you rush to the defence of HG? Not a day goes by where he does not make some passive aggressive reference to flying, Beyonce, postitive thoughts etc. all in an effort to get at me. I know it sounds paranoid, but it is true.
Also... I really have ZERO sympathy for the Grammy ceremony if they are caught up in the storm. Their champagne can stay in the refrigerator. What is THEIR carbon footrptint, the people in that room? I shudder to think. Taylor Swift is not a hero, she is a villain. At least in this regard.

Crazy winds here. Spent the past half hour clearing fallen fronds that were blown off the palm trees into the street and nearby intersection. They create a driving hazard, especially at night. We have plenty of sunshine at the moment, but no rain. Yet.

Governor Newsom has proclaimed a "State of Emergency" for eight Central and Southern Californnia Counties: Los Angeles; Orange; Riverside; San Bernadino; San Luis Obispo; Santa Barbara; Ventura. And here in San Diego.

Sorry but myself and many others are not going to stop flying around the country or the world on business trips or for pleasure. Any damage we might due is nothing compared to what the elites of this country do, and they are hypocrites. They preach how we should live and then do the exact opposite. Very simple and I have told you enough times. He started thread on "Beyonce" expressing he was excited to see her perform. You hijacked that thread and made it political. I know your answer by now that he created that thread because you created some other thread - lol. He does not go on your threads and try to change the original topic of your thread with his posts. OMG - ever think he enjoys flying to places and doing something besides posting on BWW. It is mindboggling to me how you seem to think everything is about you. So are you telling me every hurricane, snowstorm, tornado, heavy rains are all due to climate change and these things are just happening in the present time due to the evils of mankind and never before we were born. Yes, climate change is happening but if you would have listened to Al Gore years ago the earth would have been destroyed by now.

Let me start by saying "Highland Guy" got me suspended for 7 days and has called me an "ageist". In other words, I have no reason to defend him. "Highland Guy" starts thread about going to see Beyonce perform. Jay then turns the thread political with his posts and basically kills the thread. If Highland Guy" supposedly created this thread to retaliate against Jay then instead of replying to him and starting disagreement, just ignore him. This thread "Highland Guy" started about the bad storms and flooding in San Diego. Once again, Jay rushes in to push his climate change agenda into the thread and seems to have issue with Highland Guy" being wealthy. I have told Jay several times, start your own threads about your views and not interject these views in threads that are not about your views. Another example, Jay interjecting his dislike of JK Rowlings into a thread that was about staging the "Harry Potter" show on tour. Jay states that he has to try to engage in discussion with "Highland Guy" but gets no reply back. To keep trying to chat with somebody who obviously does not want to talk back is really dense to me -lol.
Finally, you try to portray yourself as neutral observer but 95% of the time you are truly an ally of Jay. Nothing wrong with that, just the truth.

This is true, but that is to a large extent an effect of the exact dynamics we're talking about. I didn't know who either of them was as of maybe a year ago before this back-and-forth started on the OT board. It would probably be more accurate to say that I started out as a neutral observer.

BACK ON TOPIC
This morning, a community cat who visits now and then appeared at our door during a downpour. For the first time in perhaps two years, he came in, said "hello" to our two cats, had a bit to eat, and curled up under a chair to sleep. We wait to see if has decided to permanently move it. We will be happy to have him join us as a family member.
Just drizzle now, but much more is predicted.

That is nice of "Kdogg", but I have supported you also. The difference is I am objective and will call you out when I think you are wrong and have offered suggestions to change the perception some people have of you. Please look in the mirror and ask yourself why you get banned so often. I got banned once but at least I learned my lesson and have not been banned again.
