Twelve-year-old Sallie Independence Foster was living in Florence, Ala., in 1861 when the Civil War began. Over a 26-year period, Sallie kept a diary of her experiences, along with a collection of papers and letters from her brothers off at war. Join storyteller Dolores Hydock and music historian Bobby Horton as they create a poignant, powerful, humorous, and honest picture of a world of innocence turned upside-down.
