Playwright Lynn Nottage brings untold stories to the stage. This November, FPCT is producing Intimate Apparel, the third Nottage play in its 35-year history, after Ruined and Crumbs from the Table of Joy.
Ten playwrights offer ten-minute plays performed by an ensemble of ten actors in the Fells Point Corner Theatre's annual 10x10x10 competition. Strong writing dominates the production, and each piece is different enough from its fellows that determining the “best” show is challenging, as the plays vary widely in format, pacing, tone and subject.
In August, Fells Point Corner Theatre (FPCT) will kick off its 36th season with a production of ten short plays portrayed by ten actors and directed by five directors. The ninth annual 10x10x10 Short Play Festival is the theatre's most popular offering and stages a broad collection of hilarious and compelling brand-new plays by local playwrights.
Fells Point Corner Theatre (FPCT) continues its 35th season with the Baltimore Premiere production of The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse. Brandon Rashad Butts will direct this hilarious send up of modern politically correct culture and stereotypes just in time for the holiday season.
The Baltimore Playwrights Festival continues its 41st Season, presenting with co-producer Fells Point Corner Theatre, with the support of the Maryland State Arts Council, the musical Do It Now!, a celebration of the life of William Donald Schaefer, Baltimore City Mayor, and Governor of the State of Maryland.
Churchill's take on love and on information seems a bit chilly. There may be a lot of both love and information out there, she appears to intimate, but it's not usually of very good quality. Much of Churchill's frostiness is, however, presented with a comic touch, emphasized by Dierdre McAllister's direction, by the energetic and youthful ensemble, and by the audience, which seemed to be goading on the performers with constant and frequently loud laughter.
The title Perfect Arrangement refers to the compact of a male gay couple and a lesbian couple to hide in plain view from the disapproval of the world in 1950 by posing as two straight couples living in adjoining halves of a Georgetown duplex. The two halves are secretly connected through the residences' respective front closets, a passage that enables each real couple to reunite at night, unnoticed by the world outside. Such a setup is custom-made for farce.
