KRISTINA FROM DUVEMÅLA (Kristina fran Duvemala) is a musical based on the four Emigrants novels by Swedish writer Vilhelm Moberg. Struggling to survive with multiple children, growing depts, failing crops, KRISTINA FROM DUVEMÅLA tells the story of the nearly starved Kristina (Maria Ylipaa), her husband Karl-Oskar (Robert Noack) and his brother Robert (Oskar Nilsson) must flee on a crowded boat full of migrants from the poverty and oppression in mid-19th century's Sweden, migrating to Minnesota, USA. But the 'New Land' is not all bliss and roses. A devastated Kristina never grows to like America and lies awake at night, tormented by her longing for her home country, and begs God to let her return one day. She is the perfect example of an unhappy immigrant.

Therefore, they are forced to take drastic action to hide their sexual orientation in order to meet the family of their son's fiancé...But the question is if they can keep it up?

Based on the movie with the same name, Peter Joback and Helen Sjoholm stars in the new Swedish musical LIVET ÄR EN SCHLAGER. (English title: Once In A Lifetime) It follows the schlager music (hit songs frequently represented at Eurovision Song Contest) obsessed Mona Berglund who steals and submits her employer's, a cerebral palsy sufferer's, self composed song. A song, which qualifies for the finals and leads Mona to stardom. The world premiere in Stockholm took place on Saturday 11 September starring the star duo Peter Joback and Helen Sjoholm whom are once again reunited on the theatre stage, 19 years after their roles in 'Kristina Fran Duvemala'. Let's see what the critics had to say...

It is that time of the year. The days get shorter, the temperature drops, the leaves fall and we say our goodbyes to the northern midnight sun. The autumn has finally come, and we could not be happier! But this can only mean one thing for us Swedish theatre lovers, a fresh new theatre season! This season brings both revivals of old favorites and new shows and I have complied a list of upcoming shows I'm looking forward to see!
