Elizabeth has always been a fan of the arts. She took dance classes when she was younger, and now she enjoys watching and supporting all the talented theatre performers in Southwest Florida. Aside from seeing lots of theatre, her favorite hobbies include baking, trying new restaurants with friends, and blasting various cast recordings in her car.
Broadway Palm's production of CHICAGO brought one of the most classic, well-known, jazzy musicals to life. From the costumes, to the music, to the acting, singing, and dancing; Broadway Palm sure knows how to Razzle Dazzle the audience, in the best way possible.
Florida Repertory Theatre's production of THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO was an absolutely charming show. There were many funny, lighthearted moments throughout the show, but there was also a good amount of tension between characters, due to differences in their faith. It was a unique and very beautifully done romantic comedy.
Cultural Park Theater's production of THE MOUSETRAP, despite clear efforts from the cast and crew to put on a good show, felt a little off.
Broadway Palm's production of A CHRISTMAS STORY is absolutely one of their best shows yet. It is a heartwarming tale; a classic story many people know and love to watch around Christmas time. Infamous quotes, like 'you'll shoot your eye out,' and well-known objects, like the leg lamp and the bunny onesie Ralphie wears, are taken from the film and made into a fantastic musical production.
Gulfshore Playhouse's LEADING LADIES is absolutely the show to see if you want a fun, entertaining, and unique night of theatre. The acting was fantastic, the jokes were precise and perfectly delivered, and the story, written by Ken Ludwig, has easily become one of my new favorites. I highly suggest seeing it if you get the chance; it is well worth it, and I promise you will have a time full of laughter and enjoyment in the two hours that LEADING LADIES plays out. You really don't want to miss this one.
If you have ever wondered what your dog would say if they could talk, SYLVIA is absolutely the show for you. And even if you don't have a dog or other kind of pet, I guarantee you'll still appreciate the humor, wit, and charm of Florida Rep's production of SYLVIA.
PIPPIN at Broadway Palm is definitely a production you do not want to miss. From the amazingly strong acting, to the incredible singing, and, of course, the spectacular dancing and acrobatics, there is something for everyone in this show.
OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley was, to sum it up in a word, delightful. Florida Rep proves that you don't need a big cast to have a hilarious, sad, romantic, and very engaging show. This was a perfect 20th season opener for Florida Rep, and I absolutely recommend seeing it if you get the chance.
A couple of days before Hurricane Irma hit Florida--and more specifically, hit the Ft. Myers/Naples, FL region of BroadwayWorld--I was grooving along to Broadway Palm's production of GROOVIN': THE 60'S & 70'S MUSICAL. It was the most fun, perfect production to see mid-hurricane anxiety and though the hurricane is over now, this show is definitely worth seeing if you're looking for an entertaining, throwback-filled afternoon or evening.
Raise your voice! SISTER ACT at The Naples Players is 'Fabulous, Baby!' A skillful cast and entertaining musical numbers make this production absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend seeing this production if you want a fun, lively, heartwarming evening (or afternoon).
Broadway Palm's MARY POPPINS is one of the best productions I have ever seen, hands down--and I have seen quite a few musicals. While I was unsure how they would top their previous production, CLUE THE MUSICAL, Broadway Palm absolutely manages to do so. Don't miss this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious show!
RAPUNZEL is perfect for kids of all ages. There is a good amount of humor, catchy music and lyrics, and wonderfully entertaining actors and actresses. Whether you are looking for a fun lunch and show to see to escape the rainy Florida afternoons, or you have a child or grandchild that adores fairytales and princesses, I highly recommend Broadway Palm's RAPUNZEL.
Broadway Palm brilliantly transforms a well-known board game, CLUE, into an entertaining, humorous, and interactive musical that is not to be missed! Will you figure out Whodunnit?
