The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (in Spanish the East-West Divan Orchestra, name inspired by a book of poems by Goethe) is a project developed by the musician Daniel Barenboim and the philosopher Edward Said in 1999 to gather, in a spirit of harmony, young musical talents Palestinian, Arab and Israeli, as well as a forum for dialogue and reflection on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This project was born with the purpose of combining study and musical development with shared knowledge and understanding among cultures that have traditionally been rivals. Their first editions passed between Weimar and Chicago until, in 2002, was definitively established in Seville. From that year also participate in the Orchestra young Spanish musicians.
