The Catalan company Comediants mocks death with his new work, 'Persephone', a show inspired by the world of the "Variétés" where music has an important role. With this creation, the troupe celebrates its 40th anniversary and closes a cycle on universal themes.
The director of Comediants, Joan Font, explained this Friday during his presentation that this work is a journey through the fine line that unites and separates life and death, to become two sides of the same coin.
"The storyline is based on a Greek myth that the world knows very little," he said. For this venture, the company has chosen to Persephone, who was abducted from Olympus by Hades (the underworld God) when she was Core (the spring) and forced her to marry him becoming Queen of the world of the dead.
In the words of Font, it's a spectacle of "masks", since the Viewer does not see the face of the protagonists until the final scene. "We didn't want to that the representation of the human being was not real," he has explained.
For his part, Àngels Gonyalons, who gets into the role of Persephone, wife of Hades, has explained that this is an entertainment show, with its "small darts that do not hurt". Despite the different genres that are served in this show, which travels between the cabaret and the puppet, actress defends that it is a "latino" show.
