Now on stage at Peninsula Players Theatre through July 28 is Agatha Christie's endearing, yet shrewd detective, Miss Marple, who is on the hunt for a crafty killer in 'A Murder is Announced,' by Leslie Darbon. Miss Marple is making her debut at America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon. Christie introduced Miss Marple to readers in 1927 when The Royal Magazine published her short story "The Tuesday Night Club," in which three people are poisoned at dinner and one dies.
Peninsula Players Theatre, in conjunction with its production of Agatha Christie's "A Murder is Announced" by Leslie Darbon, will host Christie scholar Dr. Christopher Chan Friday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the theater. Chan will speak about "The Queen of Crime," Agatha Christie, and the creation of her character Miss Jane Marple. Tickets to performances are available; admission to the pre-show seminar is free.

The Shubert Foundation has awarded a record total of $30 million to 533 not-for-profit performing arts organizations across the United States since its inception. This marks the 38th consecutive year that the Foundation has increased its giving, including an additional $5,000 to Peninsula Players.
