Chicago Tribune Faith, Fear, Lust, and Longing combust in Arthur Miller?s retelling of one of the strangest and most horrible chapters of American history ? the Salem Witch Trials. Award-winning director Norman Lewis returns to Las Cruces Community Theatre to illuminate the tale of a repressed town plunged into deadly panic and a family fighting to stand up for the truth at any cost. Spring, 1692. In the black of night, a Salem village reverend discovers a group of teenage girls dancing devilishly around a fire in the woods. When his daughter exhibits strange catatonic symptoms the following morning, the townsfolk are frenzied with tales of witchcraft. Deep-seated jealousy, deadly accusations, and seething resentments pit neighbor against neighbor and a deeply religious community is thrown into turmoil. A timeless parable about morality and the devastating consequences when fear takes root in a community, Arthur Miller penned The Crucible as a thinly veiled condemnation of the Communist ?witch hunt? of his time. The play won the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play and is considered a landmark work in the canon of American drama. This masterful and chilling portrayal of the historic Salem Witch Trials still resonates with our current world today. The Crucible pulses with the destructiveness of socially sanctioned violence, the power of hysteria and rancor, the blindness of zealots, and the heart of one tortured man trying to find his own goodness. LCCT alums Darin Robert Cabot ("The Laramie Project") as John Proctor and Nora Brown ("The Laramie Project") as; Elizabeth Proctor. ?LINK FOR TICKETS: https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=86419
