The White Theatre at The J presents Grammy-nominated Cellist Amit Peled

Israeli-American, Grammy-nominated, cellist, conductor, and educator Amit Peled will bring his musical talents to The White Theatre of the Jewish Community Center (The J) for a one-night engagement on Wednesday evening, Dec. 5. Peled strives to make classical music more accessible to all audiences by teaching and playing concerts in a way that makes classical music entertaining for all.

During this special evening at The White Theatre, Peled will present "The Journey with My Jewishness," a program with pieces that have had an impact on his own life's journey. The music in this program reflects his childhood growing up in a small Israeli kibbutz to Peled's life today as a professional musician. The 7:30 p.m. concert will feature such works as "Eli Eli by Zehavi, Bruch's "Kol Nidrei," Bloch's "From Jewish Life," "Suite No. 1" by Bach, and Popper's "Hungarian Rhapsody." For the White Theatre concert, Peled will be joined by pianist Stefan Petro.

Peled is Founder and Artistic Director of the Mount Vernon Virtuosi. In addition, Peled maintains a rigorous travel schedule conducting and playing in venues across the globe. In his continued quest to make classical music more accessible and entertaining, Peled recently published a children's book A Cello Named Pablo which was inspired by the historic 1733 Goffriller cello, originally played by Cellist Pablo Casals, and personally handed to Peled by Caslas widow.

Peled's appearance is part of The White Theatre's Concert Series. Tickets for the concert are $14-$35. For tickets, please call the White Theatre Box Office at (913) 327-8054 or order online at TheWhiteTheatre.org. Assisted listening devices will be available for this, and all White Theatre performances. Come enjoy this incredible musician in concert - the perfect treat for the fourth night of Hanukkah!
