The Traverse Theatre today, 24 August 2016, announces its Autumn/Winter season. As well as a range of the best work from touring companies, the season features brand new Traverse Theatre commissions, co-productions and our wide range of education and engagement opportunities. The theatre also welcomes back the ever popular A Play, A Pie and a Pint season featuring new work from Traverse Associate Artist Morna Pearson, alongside Alan Bissett, Gerda Stevenson, James Runcie, Ellie Stewart and Kieran Lynn.

It's also hosting a number of festivals: Chrysalis will once again bring the best of new and emerging talent back to our stages and the Dario Fo festival plays host to some of the finest political theatre in the world, in celebration of the renowned playwright and his late wife.

Productions include Rob Drummond's thriller Grain in the Blood, a modern moral and ethical dilemma which play out against a backdrop of ancient pagan beliefs and customs (1-12 November at the Traverse, 20-29 October at The Tron Theatre, Glasgow), and a theatrical adaptation of Black Beauty for younger audiences (3-24 December).

The flagship engagement programme Class Act celebrates 25 years, with professional playwrights working with pupils from Broughton High School, Leith Academy, Tynecastle High School, Wester Hailes Education Centre and The Rock Trust. Traverse 1 will host two evenings of exciting new work from the Traverse's next generation of playwrights - the Class Act Silver graduates on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November.

The Hothouse event returns on 8-11 November, showcasing four emerging companies and artists, as does scratch platform Words Words Words, with submissions opening on 14 October and closing on 14 November, and there's also a series of Traverse Masterclasses.

Visiting productions include F*cked.com - A Tale of Crashes and Bubbles (22-24 September), Beyond the Mud Walls (28 September), Can I Start Again Please (29 September-1 October), and family-friendly As The Crow Flies (26 October).
