The Royal Opera House Announces 2019 Lineup

The Royal Opera House presents a host of world premieres and debuts across ballet and opera in 2019, alongside a diverse range of free and ticketed Front of House events for all ages. 2019 also sees the first performances by The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera in the newly refurbished Linbury Theatre, the West End's newest and most intimate theatre.

Now open every day from 10am, the Royal Opera House offers an exciting programme of events for audiences of all ages throughout 2019, including free Live at Lunch recitals and rehearsals, Dance with The Royal Ballet, Books at Brunch and Family Sundays.

The Royal Ballet presents a world premiere from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, alongside the much-anticipated revival of Crystal Pite's Olivier Award-winning Flight Pattern. Kenneth MacMillan's seminal Romeo and Juliet is also revived on the main stage, with this run featuring a host of debuts. Guest Artist of The Royal Ballet Alessandra Ferri returns to the Royal Opera House in January 2019, presenting TRIOConcertDance alongside Herman Cornejo and Bruce Levingston. The Royal Ballet performs for the first time in the new Linbury Theatre in February, presenting New Work New Music, a mixed programme of world premieres set to contemporary music never used before for dance.

The Royal Opera's 2019 programme includes La forza del destino, with cast members including international stars Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann and Christopher Maltman. The production is conducted by Music Director of The Royal Opera Antonio Pappano and directed by Christof Loy. Deborah Warner's production of Billy Budd is seen for the first time at Covent Garden in April, with Jacques Imbrailo, Toby Spence and Brindley Sherratt in the lead roles. Also returning in April is David McVicar's stunning production of Faust, with a cast including Michael Fabiano, Diana Damrau and Erwin Schrott. In the Linbury Theatre, The Royal Opera presents The Monstrous Child, a world premiere by British composer Gavin Higgins and best-selling author Francesca Simon, inspired by Norse mythology.

Royal Opera House productions are broadcast in more than 1,500 cinemas in 51 countries around the world in 2019 as part of ROH Live Cinema. Forthcoming screenings include The Queen of Spades (22 Jan), La traviata (30 Jan), Don Quixote (19 Feb), La forza del destino (2 April), Faust (30 April) and Romeo and Juliet (11 June).

The Royal Opera House BP Big Screens return in summer 2019 with three opera and ballet performances screened live and for free at several locations across the UK. Titles and locations will be announced soon.
