Kenneth Branagh completes his company's first year-long Garrick residency by starring in John Osborne's The Entertainer - once more following in the footsteps of Laurence Olivier. The production is currently in previews, opening to press tonight, and plays until 12 November. It will also be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and internationally on 27 October.

Rob Ashford directs Kenneth Branagh as Archie Rice alongside Phil Dunster as Graham, Gawn Grainger as Billy Rice, Jonah Hauer-King as Frank Rice, Crispin Letts as Brother Bill, Sophie McShera as Jean Rice and Greta Scacchi as Phoebe Rice. The company also includes Lauren Alexandra, Yasmin Harrison, Pip Jordan and Kate Tydman.

Branagh's lauded international career as an actor and director has featured numerous Shakespeare outings, including Henry V, Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing (opposite his then wife Emma Thompson), as well as Look Back in Anger, Ivanov and Another Country on stage, and on screen work as diverse as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Shackleton, My Week with Marilyn and Wallander.
