Shakespeare's greatest tragedy begins as fairy tale (“Once upon a time there was an old king who had three daughters...”) and ends in nightmare—of homelessness, alienation, family strife, and civil war. Starring local acting legend Rick Foucheux as Lear. A once-in-a-lifetime performance that’s not to be missed. Directed by Tom Prewitt. Starring Rick Foucheux as Lear. Also starring Acting Company members Sara Barker as Edgar, Frank Britton as Cornwall, Christopher Henley as The Fool, and Cam Magee as Gloucester. Avant Bard has announced that Khalil Kain has had to withdraw from the cast of TOPDOG/UNDERDOG due to unforeseen personal circumstances. But Avant Bard is happy to announce that Jeremy Keith Hunter has joined the production. Jeremy will play opposite Louis E. Davis in the Pulitzer Prize-winning dark comedy by Suzan-Lori Parks about two African American brothers grappling for destiny. The production runs from March 14 to April 14, 2019, at Gunston Arts Center Theatre Two in Arlington.
