Liverpool's Winter Wonderland Welcomes Elves For Festive Visit

Liverpool's Winter Wonderland at St Luke's have welcomed a group of local youngsters for a festive treat at the Christmas experience.

The 20 children from The Florence Institute in Dingle (The Florrie), certainly dressed for the occasion and arrived in elf costumes and Christmas jumpers.

The youngsters were greeted by Liverpool comedy legend actor Ricky Tomlinson, star of The Royle Family and Brookside. As a patron of The Florrie, Ricky was a surprise special guest who visited to wish them a very Merry Christmas.

The excited group enjoyed the Winter Wonderland experience, before heading back to The Florrie for their Christmas party.

The Winter Wonderland experience at St Luke's "Bombed-Out" Church recently opened its doors as a festive attraction for the very first time, with visitors seeing the much-loved Liverpool landmark in a whole new light.

Winter Wonderland has also launched a toy appeal for Liverpool Homeless FC. Visitors can leave a toy under the venue's Christmas Tree, which will be donated to families living in hostels during the Christmas period. The final day for toy donations is this Sunday (23 December).

A further 80 children from The Florrie will visit the festive attraction during its final week as guests of Winter Wonderland.

Anne Lundon, CEO of The Florrie, commented: "The children from The Florrie had a fabulous time at Winter Wonderland. The elves and Santa himself put huge smiles on our children's faces from the moment they arrived until they left. Huge thanks to Ricky Tomlinson for making it extra special. Thank you and Merry Christmas from The Florrie."

Winter Wonderland at St Luke's "Bombed-Out" Church runs until this Sunday (23 December). Sessions are available to pre-book.

Up to two-hour timeslots are available to book in advance. The Winter Wonderland ticket price includes Mrs Clause's Studio, where youngsters can make their own bauble to take home; performances by elves of Wonderland stories in Storyland; play games with the woodland elves in the Woodland Workshops; dance and learn routines with the dancing elves in the Silent Disco; and not forgetting a trip into Santa's Grotto with a gift and photo keyring keepsake with Santa. Adults are also treated to a mulled wine and mince pie.

The gardens of St Luke's have also been transformed into a Winter market, featuring stalls with arts and crafts, and food and drink.
