Kadir Has University, Istanbul, Turkey

Theatre Department, which was founded in 2006, is the youngest department of Faculty of Fine Arts in Kadir Has University.The department offers a four year undergraduate program, which leads the graduates to Bachelor of Arts degree.

The Theatre program aims to help student to develop their knowledge and creativity, as well as their skills, that they need in their future profession as theatre artists. The curriculum offered by the Kadir Has University is designed to provide our students wide range of possibilities to specialization for the professional life. Students begin their education by training the fundamental elements of theatre and get then focusing attention on a particular area of interest, such as acting, dramatic writing, directing, theatre management, etc.

The academic staff of the department consists of prominent actors, directors and theatre managers of well known theatre companies and academicians. Our lecturers have international experience and they have great theoretical and practical knowledge of theatre. Besides their career as artists, they have also long years of experience as lecturer.

In order to give a contemporanious education, the department gives a special importance to the internationality and enable its students to have international experiences through Erasmus and other exchange programms, as well as international academic events and workshops.

According to their interests and talent, our graduates can work as actor/actress, director, playwright, theatre manager, theatre instructor and they can work in many other theatre related proffessions.

Sabanci University Performing Arts Center (SGM).

The inauguration of the Sabanci University Performing Arts Center (SGM) was announced in June 2004 with a letter personally signed by Sakip Sabanci three days before he passed away. SGM is now the largest conference and art center in the Anatolian side of Istanbul, and hosts the performances of a large number of prominent artists and ensembles throughout the year.

SGM has a capacity of 912 and serves not just Sabanci University faculty and students, but the wider community surrounding the campus. By inviting internationally-renowned performers and ensembles, SGM ensures that audiences of all ages and walks of life make time for artistic events that they will appreciate, helping to keep the artistic bar high.

Under the guidance of Yekta Kara, former solo performer, chief dramaturge and director in the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, SGM has featured globally popular performances and concerts by the leading performers of Turkey and the world since its inauguration.

Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University

The institution was founded on January 1, 1882 as the "School of Fine Arts" by the renowned Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey, who was also an art historian, archeologist and museum curator. Being the first of its kind in Turkey, education in fine arts and architecture began on March 2, 1883 with 8 instructors and 20 students.

In 1914, the school became co-educational. The school was converted in 1928 to an academy, the first academy in Turkey, and its name was changed to "State Academy of Fine Arts" (Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi). In 1969, this was renamed to "Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts" (?stanbul Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi). On July 20, 1982, its status was changed, and the academy became "Mimar Sinan University" (Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi) after the great Ottoman-Armenian architect Mimar Sinan. Finally, in December 2003, the administration of the university changed its name to "Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University".

Since 1982 the institution has been providing 4-year educational programs.
