Guillaume Côté Joins The Bolshoi Ballet as a Guest Artist in ROMEO AND JULIET

Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté has been invited to appear as a Guest Artist with The Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, Russia. Mr. Côté will dance the role of Romeo in Alexei Ratmansky's Romeo and Juliet on December 15, 2018 at the Bolshoi Theatre's New Stage, a role he originated when the ballet premiered in Toronto in 2011. Mr. Côté is one of very few Canadians, and the first dancer from Québéc, who have danced with The Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow; that number includes Ms. Kain who performed with them in the 1970's.

Hailed as "one of the finest male dancers in the world" by the London Times, Mr. Côté, has performed internationally as a guest with such companies as The Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Hamburg Ballet, Teatro Colón, The Staatsballett Berlin, English National Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet. For The National Ballet of Canada, Mr. Côté has danced most of the principal roles in both the classical and contemporary repertoire with many choreographers creating roles on him.

Ms. Kain commissioned Mr. Ratmansky to create Romeo and Juliet in 2011 to mark The National Ballet of Canada's 60th anniversary. The Bolshoi Ballet is the only company apart from the National Ballet to perform this celebrated work, having premiered it in November 2017.

Mr. Côté celebrates his 20th anniversary with the National Ballet during the 2018/19 season and returns to Toronto to perform the role of Peter/The Nutcracker in The Nutcracker on December 19, 2018 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
