Inspired by the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, this monologue play delivers a raw and poignant perspective on the social, economic, and political issues that precipitated these traumatic events. Using more than 350 interviews, Smith creates a mosaic of four dozen characters to expose and explore the devastating human impact of these events and offer a stark insight into the complex and pressing social, economic and political issues that set Los Angeles ablaze.  Originally performed as a one person show - this version will have its cast of eight actors inhabiting a diverse spectrum of unique voices.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced the national awardees of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, which was held virtually in convenings for each discipline that began on March 8, 2021 and continued through May 22, 2021.

York College of Pennsylvania's Theatre Program has announced the winning full-length play for the inaugural year of the JL Smith New Play Festival. Lancaster resident David Nice's play Recounting was selected by a panel of professional theatre artists from the many plays submitted.

York College of Pennsylvania's Theatre Program is seeking play submissions for its inaugural 2021 JL Smith New Play Festival. Both 10-minute and full-length plays can be submitted through by Friday, March 12th and five 10-minute plays and one full-length play will be selected for virtual performance; with playwrights being notified by April 1st if their script has been chosen.

a?oeNew Beginnings,a?? an exhibit of paintings by talented young Adams County artist Gabe Clarke is on display daily at the Majestic Theater's art gallery September through November. A public reception celebrating the exhibit featuring a meet and greet with Clarke will be held First Friday, Sept. 6, 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg.

Theater Alliance closes its Season 16 with Klytmnestra: An Epic Slam Poem by two-time Helen Hayes Award nominee Dane Figueroa Edidi. 

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.
