TOMMY JAMES formed his first rock band, The Tornadoes, in Niles, Michigan, in 1959. The group changed their name to THE SHONDELLS in 1964, released “Hanky Panky” as a local hit, and in the summer of 1966 the song became the biggest hit across the U.S. Other hits include: “Say I am (What I Am),” “It’s Only Love,” “I Think We’re Alone Now,” “Mirage,” “I Like The Way,” “Getting’ Together,” “Out of The Blue,” “Get Out Now,” “Mony Mony,” “Crimson and Clover,” “Do Something To Me,” “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” “Sweet Cherry Wine,” “She,” and “Gotta Get Back To You.” The song “Sugar On Sunday” rose high on the charts in a cover version by The Clique. The band took a break and TOMMY returned as a solo act, writing and producing the million selling single "Tighter, Tighter" for the group Alive And Kickin'. More chart-topping singles included: "Come To Me," "Ball and Chain," "I'm Comin' Home," "Draggin' The Line," and "Three Times In Love.” TOMMY’s “40 Years: The Complete Singles Collection (1966-2006), includes all 48 of his singles. His music is heard every day around the world: on the radio, television and film soundtracks. To date, he's sold over 100 million records and has had 23 gold singles plus 9 gold and platinum albums.
