The Washington Pavilion introduces a unique exhibition featuring internationally acclaimed South Dakota artist Dick Termes. The exhibition is called 50 Years, 50 Spheres, and includes fifty works by Termes in the Visual Arts Center's Everist Gallery.

Unlike any other painter, Termes paints on spheres known as Termespheres. Each Termesphere is a revolving, three-dimensional space/time exploration of an entirely closed universe.

On Friday, November 2, Termes will be available at the Washington Pavilion in the Visual Arts Center's Everist Gallery at 6 p.m. to give a gallery talk about his exhibition. washingtonpavilion.org/event/dick-termes-50-years-50-spheres

Termes has been painting artistic and mathematical wonders for 50 years. His unique six-point perspective that he uses to paint the Termespheres has been published in countless books. His sphere titled The Big Bang was featured on the cover of the French translation of Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time."

Jason Folkerts, Director of Exhibits & Collections explains, "The ability of Dick Termes to capture exact perspectives with exquisite and creative images is a captivating experience for all who walk through this unique exhibit. I would encourage everyone to take enough time to fully absorb the work of a legendary South Dakota artist with the largest show he has ever had in our region."

Termes lives and works in a collection of Geodesic Domes outside of Spearfish, South Dakota. His Termespheres are presented in museums, corporate headquarters and homes worldwide including the Sioux Falls Convention Center. For more on his work and gallery, visit his website termespheres.com.

The Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center, accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, is dedicated to building, preserving and conserving its collections for both South Dakotans and worldwide audiences.

The Visual Arts Center is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon - 5 p.m. On the first Friday of every month, the Visual Arts Center is open 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; admission is free to all from 5-8 p.m. Admission is always free to Washington Pavilion members.
