This well-known legend tells the story of how the scholar Xu Xian falls in love with Lady White Snake, a kind snake spirit. Their happy life is disrupted when an over-zealous monk, Fa Hai, seeks to destroy her. Being pregnant, Lady White Snake is unable to overcome Fa Hai and is forced to flee with her loyal confidante, Green Snake, while he imprisons Xu Xian in a pagoda. To save Xu Xian, Lady White Snake summons up a flood over the pagoda, causing a catastrophe. Will the lovers be reunited?
