Raven Theatre is pleased to launch its 2019-20 season with the Chicago premiere of Rachel Bonds' drama SUNDOWN, YELLOW MOON, featuring music and lyrics by The Bengsons, directed by Artistic Director Cody Estle with music direction by Andra Velis Simon. This warm and delicate play with music is an honest look at the hard work of holding a family together and reconnecting with what we've left behind.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCOY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT are thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of GRUMPY OLD MEN: THE MUSICAL, book by Dan Remmes, music by Neil Berg, lyrics by Nick Meglin, (Adapted from the Warner Bros. motion picture written by Mark Steven Johnson), additional orchestrations by Phil Reno, choreography by Michele Lynch, musical direction by Benet Braun and direction by Matt Lenz. GRUMPY OLD MEN: THE MUSICAL will preview on Friday, September 20, 2019 (with a press opening on Saturday, September 21 at 8pm) and runs through Sunday, October 13, 2018 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.  

Chiaroscuro by Jackie Kay, Director Lynette Linton's first production as Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre will preview from 31 August with a press night at 7pm on 6 September. The cast is Shiloh Coke (Misty at the Bush Theatre and Trafalgar Studios, Emila at The Globe Theatre), Preeya Kalidas (Eastenders, BBC Asian Radio, Bend It Like Beckham), singer-songwriter Anoushka Lucas(Jesus Christ Superstar at Regents Park Open Air Theatre and whose debut album Dark Soul was recently released) and Gloria Onitiri (whose recent productions include Napoli, Brooklyn, on national tour and Hadestown at the National Theatre).

The weekend before Christmas, The Los Angeles Youth Ballet presented a gorgeous, colorful and professional performance of The Nutcracker at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. The production was very carefully constructed, with an emphasis on good technique, passion and commitment in performance and lovingly re-created by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Andrea Paris-Gutierrez. It was staged and choreographed optimally for each age group performing. Enchanting might be an adjective to describe the feeling the performers were emitting to the viewers, who's rapt attention was a sign of both enjoyment and endorsement. The Nutcracker Suite was composed by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, and has long been the favorite balletic composition to be performed during the Christmas Season.

The spotty thunderstorms on the evening of December 1, 2018, failed to deter the crowds from leaving the Gloria's Fantasyland's open-air theatre where the new Filipino musical, 'Nia And Anwar And The Whale Shark Tale,' was performed before the general public for the very first time.

Travel south this holiday season, enjoy the thrill rides at Gloria's Fantasyland, and come witness the birth of a new original Filipino musical 'Nia And Anwar: The Tale of the Great Gray Whale.' This one-hour musical tells the epic story of the now endangered 'gentle giants' butandings (whale sharks)--but more importantly, it tells us how we can help them survive.

San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon (Daren A.C. Carollo and Daniel Thomas, Co-Executive Directors) has announced the full cast and creative team for the opening production of its 2018-2019 season, THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (nominated for seven Tony Awards). THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS features a book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, and music and lyrics by Carol Hall. 42nd Street Moon's production runs from October 3 - 21, 2018 and will perform at San Francisco's Gateway Theatre (formerly the Eureka Theatre). Ahead of the European debut at Trafalgar Studios from 16 October - 24 November, A Guide for the Homesick, releases rehearsal images and trailer. The powerful new play by the award-winning American writer Ken Urban stars Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending, Speech and Debate) and Clifford Samuel (McMafia, The Events) and is directed by Jonathan O'Boyle.

Zhong-Jing Fang was promoted to soloist at the American Ballet Theatre in 2018, the first Chinese ballerina to be promoted to soloist since Yan Chen in 1993. Almost ten years ago, she tore her posterior tibial tendon in her right foot during a rehearsal. Doctors told her that the chances of her returning to the stage were extremely slim.

The DREAM Project united New York's most prominent philanthropists, Latino leaders, and celebrities at their annual benefit to change the lives of thousands of children and young adults in the Dominican Republic. The DREAM Project's Sixth Annual NYC Benefit, Sueños 2018, took place at The Italian Academy at Columbia University.

Disney's 2018 holiday feature film THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS debuted an all-new teaser trailer and four new images this morning. Directed by Lasse Hallstr m and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann's classic tale, the film opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.

Totem Pole Playhouse, in association with Gettysburg Community Theatre, will once again bring its original adaptation of the Charles Dickens' holiday classic A Christmas Carol to the stage of Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater this December 8-17. This year's production boasts an even larger cast of over 60 professional union, non-union, and local community actors, making it by far the largest production in Central Pennsylvania.
