(Gramophone), will be opening the concert with selections from Robert Beaser's Grammy-nominated Mountain Sounds for Flute and Guitar. The piece consists of eight songs based on traditional Appalachian folk melodies, modifying their modal-tonal structures and rhythms but never varying too far from the original source.
