Producers Lorne Michaels and Stuart Thompson have announced casting for the world premiere of the Broadway-bound new musical Mean Girls with a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the Paramount Pictures film; music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

The annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit, hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, addresses powerful social and topical issues in our society through the works of prominent playwrights. This year, the event will feature stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, Catherine Filloux, Lyle Kessler, Jose Rivera, and Regina Taylor. ???????The Musical Stage Company (formerly Acting Up Stage Company) & Canadian Stage present the Toronto premiere of Sharron Matthews' dynamite cabaret GIRL CRUSH, fresh off its highly acclaimed runs in New York City and Calgary. GIRL CRUSH will play for one night only at Toronto's High Park Amphitheatre on July 24, 2017 at 8 PM.

This year, the event will be Sunday, July 23, and will benefit the New York Civil Liberties Union with 'The Protest Plays,' stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, CATHERINE FILLOUX, Lyle Kessler, JOSE RIVERA, and Regina Taylor.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Sharron Matthews in Sharron Matthews: Girl Crush on Friday, May 26th, 2017, Named the "Redheaded Canadian Goddess of Cabaret" by the Scotsman Newspaper, "Best Cabaret Performance of 2015" (BroadwayWorld), "Best Cabaret Performer" (Toronto's NOW Magazine), and the "#1 Cabaret in New York City in 2010" (NiteLife Exchange and WPAT Radio), Sharron returns to NY after her exciting 54 Below debut in November of 2016, and her two SOLD out shows at Joe's Pub in 2010.

Good morning, BroadwayWorld! This weekend's big news: The stars of A BRONX TALE appear for a performance and CD signing today at Barnes & Noble, and Robert Schenkkan's BUILDING THE WALL begins Off-Broadway tonight!

Now according to an equity casting notice, the show will begin rehearsals for Broadway in February 2018, with preview performances set to begin March 10-12, 2018. 

'This is an excellent season of plays,' Glory Kadigan, founder and curator of Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights For A Cause, said, remarking about this year's plays and playwrights, and now, the creative team. 'I'm so proud of the activist artists involved with Planet Connections for continuing to connect with audiences in so many creative ways while drawing attention to organizations who are on the front lines of this important work.'

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today its final selections for 2017 NYMF. A series of developmental readings, invited productions, concerts and Beta Events will join the previously announced programming.
