A bold, imaginative response to the stories of those seeking refuge in the UK, 'The Claim' asks what happens when your life is at stake and all you have to save it are your words. The runaway hit of the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 'The Claim' is a comically absurd and quietly shattering journey to the heart of our tolerant and fair society.

BWW Review: THE CLAIM at Shotgun Players
BWW Review: THE CLAIM at Shotgun Players

After an almost two-year Covid shutdown, Shotgun Players open their 30th season with Tim Cowbury's dark, absurdist comedy The Claim, a smash hit at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In a nod to Kafka's The Trial, Cowbury shines his searing focus on Serge, an asylum seeker trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare that begins innocently enough, but quickly morphs down a rabbit hole of horrific miscommunications with dire circumstances.

Shotgun Players To Present Their 29th Season
October 24, 2019

Founding Artistic Director Patrick Dooley has this to say about Shotgun's latest lineup: a?oeFor 2020 we selected a season of plays with writing that leaped off the page. Words so good that you want to hear them every night. And we found plays with characters that intrigue us a?' not necessarily because they're so honorable that we want to be like them a?' but because we might have something to learn from their all too familiar shortcomings. We hope you'll be as inspired (and hopeful!) as we are for our 2020 season.a??
