Review of NECESSARY SACRIFICES at North Coast Repertory Theatre where the audience is privy to the (imagined) discussions between Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln on equality, racism, and politics during their historic meetings.
In the summer of 1863, at the height of the Civil War, Frederic Douglass and Abraham Lincoln confront each other at the White House in two searing, no-holds-barred sessions that forever change the course of history. Originally commissioned by Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C., NECESSARY SACRIFICES by Richard Hellesen is based on their two documented meetings.
