THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE Provides The Perfect Family Outing at Utah Children's Theatre

Returning by popular demand, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will play from December 1st to January 5th at Utah Children's Theatre.

Siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are sent out of London during World War II to the darkness of an old country house. The children stumble through an old wardrobe to the land of Narnia, where it is always winter and never Christmas under the White Witch's reign. With the help of Mr. Tumnus, the Beavers, and Aslan the Great Lion, the children learn about the importance of family and the true meaning of love and sacrifice.

The cast includes several family groups, with adults and children of all ages performing together. Brooke Wilkins, who is reprising her role as the White Witch, will be performing with her nephews and her brother, Brinton Wilkins. Asked about how it felt to play opposite his sister, Brinton (who plays Aslan) replied, "It's a neat opportunity. It brings something a little extra to the story--there's a relationship between the characters." He also appreciates "being able to tell this story in this way for this audience. It's a story I come back to time and again, because it means more as I get older. To be able to read it to my kids, and to now bring it to life, is a really great honor."

Additional cast members include the four children who adventure into Narnia, played by Helene Parker (Lucy), Wyatt Cernyar (Edmund), Maggie Lea (Susan) and Seth Jones (Peter). Father Christmas will also make an appearance.

This touching story featuring fantasy, adventure, mythical creatures, and a timeless message, is sure to please young and old alike. Brooke Wilkins agrees. "This play is about love. The story is told so simply. That's why it's so profound. It's perfect for Christmas."

Last time Utah Children's Theatre produced The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, large crowds flocked to the theatre with their families to enjoy the holiday production. Because of its expected popularity, advanced ticket purchases are recommended, but tickets may be bought at the door if available. Performances are on Fridays at 7 pm and Saturdays at 1:00 and 4:30 pm through January 5th. Go to http://www.uctheatre.org or call 801-532-6000 for more information. Individual tickets are $16, or you may purchase season tickets (which include The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) starting at only $50.
