Triptych is an exploration of familiar stories, seen through a work of prose that asks the familiar characters to examine themselves and the history they will inevitably affect. Pulling from the story of Adam and Eve, prose is used to present them as flawed, dangerous individuals on the precipice of history. The piece is divided into 3 parts, with each part utilizing it’s own form of storytelling via new choreography, scoring and visuals. Part 1 is from the perspective of the Devil; Part 2 is told from Adam’s viewpoint; Part 3 is a recount of the story Eve. Triptych takes familiar stereotypes and brings them into the current, taking them from characters in a story and turning them into flesh and blood.
The Red Lines is proud to premiere Triptych at Dixon Place as a full length work-in-progress production. In April 2016, Triptych was presented at Bowery Poetry Club as a new reading of prose that depicts the story of Adam and Eve.
