The seventh St Petersburg International Cultural Forum has concluded, according to Gulf Times. With Qatar as the guest of honor for the first time, the country hosted many special events.
Qatar and Russia hosted joint events as part of the 2018 Year of Culture between the countries, put in place to strengthen their partnership.
The final day of the forum saw many events hosted by Qatar, including a panel about the future of libraries, where Qatar National Library executive director Dr. Sohair Wastawy discussed the importance of traditional libraries despite the changing technological culture.
Musician Dana Alfardan held a discussion session where she talked about how the Qatari marine art influenced her music.
Qatar Business Incubation Center chief executive officer Aysha al-Mudahka discussed entrepreneurship in cultural companies and how people and artists can create lasting partnerships.
In addition, the Qatar Contemporary: Art and Photography exhibition was on display, where it will be until December 10. The exhibition is the largest of its kind from Qatar to be hosted in Russia. It features one part that includes photography from Qatar, as well as a second part that features contemporary works from artists of different nationalities.
The St Petersburg International Cultural Forum was inaugurated November 15, to discuss ways to support cultural co-operation between countries and their people around the world. The forum is also in place to promote the exchange of knowledge about cultural and artistic issues through holding seminars, lectures, and more on the topics of theatre, film and musical shows.
