The Pennsylvania Ballet opens their 2017-18 season Thursday night with Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Choreographed by Artistic Director Angel Corella, there will be nine performances of the classic.

""I wanted to open the season in the grand tradition, with a ballet whose story is well known and one with many demanding roles to show off our dancers' stunning technique. The sets and costumes are a feast for the eyes and the music a delight for the ears." said Corella about his interpretation of the ballet originally choreographed by the father of classical ballet Marius Petipa.
