Incoming WAITRESS star, Betsy Wolfe, is getting ready to step into Jenna's shoes on the set of her photoshoot. Betsy discusses what she thinks of her character Jenna, and why she's excited to join the cast of Waitress. Earlier this week, Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Casey Reitz, Executive Director) announced productions for its inaugural Broadway season at the historic Hayes Theater on Broadway.

From the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine (Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George) and William Finn (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) comes a musical comedy about one modern family's unexpected route to brighter days. Based on the Academy Award-winning film by Michael Arndt. Chicago Theatre Workshop will be the first company in the US to present the show since its off-Broadway run at Second Stage Theater. 

Only one of the ten plays in two-time Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson's masterful The American Century Cycle has never been seen on Broadway - until now. JITNEY is now in previews at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street) for a Thursday, January 19 opening night. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Sutton Foster's start on Broadway is the real-life version of the stuff movie musicals are made of; one week before the opening of Throughly Modern Millie on Broadway, Foster received a call from director Michael Mayer, bumping her up from understudy to the star of the show—and the rest is musical theatre history. This morning, Foster sat down with CBS' Mo Rocca to chat about her journey as a Broadway actress, and her current starring roles in TV Land's Younger and The New Group's Sweet Charity. When speaking about the latter, in reference to recovering from her divorce several years ago, Foster said, “What's interesting is that I know [Charity], because I think I have been her, but luckily, I don't feel like I'm her now.”

Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, will open on November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). Previews will begin on October 15.

Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. This premiere production will be directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Freaky Friday will run from October 4 - November 20 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre. Even Fox Sports has Hamilton fever! In the latest spoof of Lin-Manuel Miranda's juggernaut, comedian Rob Riggle stars as Jimmy Garoppolo, in Garoppolo: A Second String Musical. Starting today, Garoppolo, a second-round pick for the New England Patriots, is filling in for superstar quarterback Tom Brady while Brady finishes his four-game suspension due to the infamous 'deflategate.' Basically, Garoppolo's the Javier Muñoz of the NFL.

It just might be the most anticipated concert event of the year; the tickets for Tony Winner Cynthia Erivo and two-time Tony Nominee Joshua Henry's one-night-only performance of The Last Five Years sold out in less than an hour on the first day of the evening's pre-sale. With the concert, which will be performed at Town Hall, only two days away, the entire team is hard at work perfecting the piece before sharing it with the lucky few who nabbed tickets. This afternoon, Jason Robert Brown, the composer of The Last Five Years, took to Facebook to share a sneak peak of one of the orchestra's final rehearsals before the big night. Check it out below!
