Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins enjoys ambiguity and messing with traditional concepts and constructs. His 2014 Obie Award-winner for Best New American Play, APPROPRIATE, is a prime example as it defies categorization. He borrows themes and tropes from classic American family dramas, and the ensemble of actors in the SpeakEasy production carve out brilliant individual performances that rival anything one might see on a Broadway stage. M. Bevin O'Gara directs this breathtaking drama.

Dallas Theater Center to Close 2014-15 Season with SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

Dallas Theater Center will close its 2014-2015 season with Kate Hamill's fresh and witty adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen's classic romantic novel. Sense and Sensibility is directed by Sarah Rasmussen and begins with previews on Thursday, April 23 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, May 24. Celeste Oliva gives a riveting, tour de force performance as The Pilot in George Brant's GROUNDED at the Nora Theatre Company, under the astute direction of Artistic Director Lee Mikeska Gardner. George Brant's play examines the life of one woman, prohibited from flying due to an unexpected pregnancy, and the impact that her reassignment to the unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) "chair force" has on her psyche and sense of self.
