CalArts Announces New Season Including China and France Tour

With two world premieres-a French/American co-production and another launching in China-and the continuing development of new productions, CalArts Center for New Performance (CNP) announces its 2017-2018 season of original works. Highlights include Fantomas-Revenge of the Image, directed by Travis Preston, making its world premiere at China's Wuzhen Festival; and conceived and directed by Arnaud Meunier, the world premiere of Fore! at La Comedie de Saint-Etienne will kick off a four-city tour of France and Belgium. At the same time, CNP will host a roster of distinguished artists-in-residence at CalArts to develop additional new works of theater.
Boundless Theatre Company to Give Maria Irene Fornes' MUD A Rare Revival

Boundless Theatre Company will present a revival of Maria Irene Fornes' MUD - the first time this seminal drama by the 9-time Obie winner has been seen in New York since 1999. The production will be directed by Elena Araoz. Previews begin October 5 at Teatro Circulo in the East Village with press opening slated for October 12.
Premiere Production of PLUTO (no longer a play) Comes to The Brick

The Brick Theater presents the world premiere of PLUTO (no longer a play), the latest from New York-based collective Superhero Clubhouse and the final installment of their Planet Plays series. PLUTO tackles the subject of mass extinction as three humans attempt to give a presentation about the remains of a play that no longer exists. The fragments seem to suggest the story of a unicorn, a hunter, and a wizard, all struggling to adapt to a rapidly changing world. Facing similar dilemmas, the three humans reenact their findings, searching for hope among the bones.
2017 Yale Drama Series Prize Winner Jacqueline Goldfinger's BOTTLE FLY Gets Reading in London

One of the theater world's most prestigious playwriting prizes, the Yale Drama Series Prize, will be given to Jacqueline Goldfinger for her play Bottle Fly. The 2017 award recipient was chosen by playwright Nicholas Wright. This year's ceremony will be held in London, with the play receiving a staged reading in November at the National Theatre Studio.
World-Premiere of KIDNAP ROAD by Catherine Filloux Set for Spring at La MaMa

KIDNAP ROAD - a new play by Catherine Filloux, based on the real-life story of a female presidential candidate held in captivity for six years by terrorists in Colombia - will be given its world premiere production this spring, presented by La MaMa at its First Floor Theatre (74 E. 4 St.), with previews beginning April 27 prior to the official press opening on April 30.
NALAC Awards $309,500 to 49 Artists and Organizations

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) is pleased to announce $309,500 in grants to 49 artists and organizations through three grant programs: the NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA), Transnational Cultural Remittances (TCR) and Diverse Art Spaces (DAS).
