The riveting play about a Black Union soldier and a young White Southern girl, will be at the Soho Playhouse, for a special three-performance run.

Documentary SOUFRA Screened At The Vatican

Soufra, an inspirational documentary about social entrepreneur Mariam Shaar, who overcame the limitations imposed from a life in an impoverished refugee camp to successfully launch a thriving catering company, screened at the Pontifical Orientale Institute at The Vatican on December 5th. The film, directed by Thomas Morgan and executive produced by Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon, showed during the final part of the 2018 Laudato si' Challenge and was joined by Morgan, Sarandon and the film's subject Mariam Shaar, who opened the summit. The three-day challenge in Vatican City and ROME welcomed leaders from all sectors (public, private and faith) to come together and seek a way to sustainably improve the lives of 10 million people who have been forced out of their homes.

Awards Announced For 2018 San Diego International Film Festival

The San Diego International Film Festival (SDiFF), produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, announced today that they have honored Alex Wolff, from the Spotlight presentation "Stella's Last Weekend," with the Auteur Award and Dominique Fishback, from the Gala Presentation "The Hate U Give," with the Rising Star Award. The awards will be presented October 11th at The Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CA.

On June 29, Charles Lloyd & The Marvels will release Vanished Gardens (Blue Note), a transcendent new album that presents the fascinating collaboration between NEA Jazz Master saxophonist and composer Charles Lloyd and acclaimed GRAMMY-winning singer and songwriter Lucinda Williams. Together they weave several threads of American music (Jazz, Blues, Americana, Country, and Rock) into a thrilling and uplifting new musical hybrid. The first single “We've Come Too Far To Turn Around,” a new gospel-informed song written by Williams, is available today to stream or download. The Marvels are Bill Frisell on guitar, Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar and dobro, Reuben Rogers on bass, and Eric Harland on drums. Vanished Gardens was produced by Lloyd, Dorothy Darr, and Don Was.

Native Earth Presents World Premiere Of FINDING WOLASTOQ VOICE, 3/29-31

For this year's Niimi'iwe: Indigenous Dance Showcase, Native Earth Performing Arts is thrilled to present Theatre New Brunswick's production of Finding Wolastoq Voice, written and composed by Natalie Sappier-Samaqani Cocahq and directed by Thomas Morgan Jones. Following the World Premiere, the production will hit the road for a month-long provincial tour with a special stop in Toronto, Ontario as part of Native Earth's Niimi'iwe dance series from March 29 to 31 at Aki Studio.
