According to Variety, Al Pacino is set to star in 'Arbitrage' alongside Eva Green and Susan Sarandon. The thriller will be directed by Nicholas Jarecki and will begin production next spring. Producers for the film include Michael Ohoven, Kevin Turen and Robert Salerno.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Al Pacino's star power has earned The Merchant of Venice the winners spot for the fall's highest advance generating show. The production, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 7, 2010, has reportedly taken in approximately $4M, beating out all incoming fall plays and musicals.

Al Pacino will reprise his celebrated performance as Shylock on Broadway for 78 performances only, beginning Tuesday, October 19 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street) and running through Sunday, January 9. Al Pacino, currently starring in the Public Theater's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, has been named the first-ever recipient of Oxford Shakespeare Company's Oxford Prize. The award will be presented to Pacino later this summer, along with an Al Pacino Scholarship to OSC student Frank Franconeri.

Th U.K.'s Screen Daily is reporting that Al Pacino will portray King Lear in a new film adaptation directed by Michael Radford. The two have previously collaborated on the film version of The Merchant of Venice (Pacino will deliver a second rendition of his Shylock live in Merchant for Shakespeare in the Park this summer). The film will begin filming in the U.K. in 2011.

The New York Times reports that Al Pacino will star in a big screen adaptation of Phillip Roth's novel, The Humbling. Pacino is the owner of the motion picture rights. The story centers on an insignificant stage actor who becomes reinvigorated by a younger woman. Barry Levinson, Oscar winner for Rain Man and Oscar nominated for Bugsy, rounds out the creative trifecta. Celebrated publicist Pat Kingsley is also attached.

Exiene Lofgren's BE A MAN!!!, directed by Grant Kretchik, gets its world premiere at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival. BE A MAN!!! begins performances Saturday August 15 and runs through August 28 at the Player's Loft Theatre (115 MacDougal Street). Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by visiting www.ticketweb.com.
