Hull UK City of Culture 2017, details of which are announced today, is a 365 day programme of cultural events and creativity inspired by the city and told to the world. Divided into four seasons, this national celebration draws on the distinctive spirit of the city and the artists, writers, directors, musicians, revolutionaries and thinkers that have made such a significant contribution to the development of art and ideas.

A man enters the space and walks the perimeter of The Kitchen's vast stage. Soon the entire arena will be filled with seven bodies locomoting with the purposeful gait of New Yorkers. Patterns form, collisions are narrowly missed, and somehow though it is only walking, we are rapt with anticipation. Anyone who has been in a modern dance class - or spent an hour people watching for that matter - has seen this before: walking patterns are nothing new to dance.

Felix Barrett has today been awarded an MBE for his work in the theatre industry. Artistic pioneer Barrett founded Punchdrunk with colleague Pete Higgin in 2000. Since then the company has become renowned around the world for its ground-breaking approach to making theatre, winning numerous awards and thousands of loyal fans in the process and becoming a byword for all that is different from traditional theatre. The company's practice has influenced a generation of theatre makers with its style of productions and practice

Led Zeppelin Tribute Coming to Capitol Center in January

Get The Led Out, the "American Led Zeppelin", will rock the Capitol Center for the Arts on Friday, January 15, at 8pm. During this epic show, the phenomenal tribute band will recreate the recorded music of Led Zeppelin with the studio overdubs that the "mighty Zep" was never able to recreate on the concert stage themselves. When one hears three guitars on the album, Get The Led Out delivers three guitars on stage. Get The Led Out brings what the audience wants … a high energy, Zeppelin concert with an honest heart-thumping intensity.

The National Theatre Live has released the first trailer for HAMLET, starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role. The production started performances on 5 August and officially opened 25 August at the Barbican Theatre for an exclusive run through 31 October 2015.
