Whether you call yourself Parisian or you're just visiting the City of Love, Broadway au Carre is the new hot ticket in Paris to get your American musical theatre fix, along with a good glass of red wine. Once a month, you can kick off your Wednesday evening at Le Carre Parisien, a typical Parisian cafe and cave-a-vins, with a cabaret concert by a featured performer, followed by an open mic, where some of the best local artists gather to belt out their favorite Broadway show tunes. Broadway au Carre also features a new musical theatre composer each month, with a set of songs that have never been performed in Europe before. The list of featured composers this season includes Will Van Dyke, Daniel Mate, Andrew Byrne, Peter Saxe, Niko Tsakalakos, Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel, among others.

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and twenty-six writers selected for the 2014 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, its fourth year of providing working retreats for musical theatre writers. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 29th, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. They are provided with a private home, transportation, food, and a stipend. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers participating this year include Broadway's Mindi Dickstein (Little Women), this year's Kleban Prize winner Nathan Tysen (Burnt Part Boys), and Peter Mills, past winner of the Kleban, Fred Ebb Award, and Richard Rodgers prize. The musicals' subjects cover 19th century nautical mysteries, 20th century fairy tales, a 1970's gay bar, and modern-day meth addicts. Every score is original and styles include 16th century Renaissance, big band, folk, rock, and electronic music.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents LyricLion on April 3rd, at 11:30 PM. LyricLion is an ensemble of seven top musicians currently studying at Columbia and Juilliard. The group accompanies singer-songwriters in new arrangements of their songs with the unique instrumentation of flute, bassoon, french horn and strings. They have been praised for their "astute musical taste" and their blend of classical and pop has been described as a "truly inspiring result" (Huffington Post).

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Niko Tsakalakos in The First Snow Record Release Show on January 31 at 11pm. Come celebrate award-winning singer/songwriter Niko Tsakalakos' first live performance marking his debut solo album, The First Snow. Brian Usifer (Music Director, Kinky Boots; Associate Music Supervisor The Book of Mormon) helms a 7 piece band comprised of players from the Kinky Boots orchestra. The concert will also feature special guest artists who will sing some of Niko's original stand-alone theatre songs as well as songs from his new musicals Alexander Supertramp and Pool Boy. D.B. Bonds directs.

Two-time Tony Award winner William Finn just hosted 'Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists you Probably Don't Know but Should.' The concert celebrated the work of young writers mentored by the composer of Falsettos, A New Brain, The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, Elegies, and this season's Little Miss Sunshine. Originating at Barrington Stage Company (BSC) and now in its 8th year, the 'Ridiculously Talented' concert series has become a hallmark of BSC's Musical Theatre Lab, where Mr. Finn serves as Artistic Producer.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series - presented by Arts and Artists at St. Paul - will continue Dec. 14 at 2:30 PM and Dec. 16 at 6 PM with two holiday concerts featuring new holiday songs.

On Wednesday, September 25th at 11:30 pm, WRITER'S BLOCK is back at 54 Below (254 West 54th Street). Hosted by Joe Iconis (The Black Suits at Center Theatre Group, Joe Iconis and Family at 54 Below), WRITERS BLOCK features fresh, new work by some of the New York's most talented up-and-coming songwriters of contemporary musical theatre and beyond. The September 25th event features new work by Broadway veteran Annie Golden (Hair, Assassins, Orange is the New Black), Mighty Kate (Kate Pfaffl from War Horse - Broadway), Eli Bolin (Volleygirls, Sesame Street, Found), and more. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Charles Ives Take Me Home, written by Jessica Dickey and directed by Daniella Topol. Charles Ives Take Me Home will begin performances tonight, May 29, 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater at 224 Waverly Place. The official opening night is set for Thursday, June 13 at 7pm. The production is scheduled to run through June 29.

Pace University's Musical Theatre Class of 2015 presented a cabaret on May 4th and 5th at at Joe's Pub. The show, entitled Hatched, was a presentation of notable composers' works written in the past three months, including the likes of Shaina Taub, Niko Tsakalakos, Gordon Leary, Julia Meinwald, Drew Gasparini, Zoe Sarnak, Ryan Scott Oliver, and the students of Pace's Inaugural 'Writing for the Musical Theatre' class.
