Bay City Players announces the cast for A Christmas Story by Philip Grecian. Based on the motion picture A Christmas Story (copyright 1983 Turner Entertainment Co., distributed by Warner Bros.), written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brownand Bob Clark; and on the book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd.

For a fourth Christmas season, Big League Productions Inc. will tour their lavish production of A Christmas Story, The Musical to twelve cities opening in Worcester, MA on November 9, 2017, with engagements to follow in Elmira, NY, Scranton, PA, Newport News, VA, Hartford, CT, Indianapolis, IN, Cincinnati, OH, Rochester, NY, Columbia, SC, Charleston, SC, Jackson, MS, and Austin, TX.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. These words will come alive again as Cleveland Play House produces The Diary of Anne Frank, providing an immersive experience for the audience in this adaptation never-before seen on the CPH stage.

Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski ( Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, 30 Rock ) and Emmy Award nominee Chris Diamantopoulos ( Good Girls Revolt, Silicon Valley, Episodes ) have been cast in featured roles in FOX's live musical event, A CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE!, airing Sunday, Dec. 17 (7:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Krakowski will play Miss Shields, the teacher of nine-year-old Ralphie Parker ; and Diamantopoulos will portray Ralphie's dad.

The new musical, ANASTASIA, dances into Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street) tonight, April 24, 2017, produced by Stage Entertainment, Bill Taylor (Sister Act, Rocky), Tom Kirdahy (It's Only A Play, The Visit) and Hunter Arnold (Kinky Boots, Spring Awakening). Making its regional premiere at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts, A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL is now ready to aim an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle at audiences through New Year's Eve.

The story of Ralphie, the boy who wants a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun for Christmas took to the Shea's stage last night for a 5 day run. Based on the 1983 movie, we now have a full blown musical version of A CHRISTMAS STORY that faithfully recreates much of the classic tale.

This musical is everything a piece of musical theater ought to be. There is a little prologue with the character of Jean Shepherd. We know immediately who is whom and the exact nature of the piece's dramatic crux. Devotees of the movie will find much that is familiar, though there has been some rearrangement, extension, enhancement and addition. Dialogue flows as stage dialogue should: with snappy delivery, different voices and more wit than is common in Real Life. Musical numbers are lively and either reveal character or move the plot. Scene changes are rapid and full of children's holiday pagent-styled elements. Ralphie's home is an adorable cutaway dollhouse. The cast is energetic and charming. This production should satisfy fans of musical theater, fans of the movie, fans of holiday shows, fans of family-friendly entertainment and really anyone who isn't a Grinch or a Scrooge.

All the elements you want to see - the narration by Jean Shepherd, the Major Award, the flagpole (pictured above), the slugfest with Scut Farkas, the dogs in the kitchen, the Chinese dinner, and every repetition of 'You'll shoot your eye out!' are there, none the worse for your expecting them. The new material does no damage to the original components.

Offering sweet nostalgia for adults, and great fun for the kids, this laugh-out-loud holiday tale of American Christmases past has been cleverly re-wrapped as a new musical. The beloved holiday film is being brought to life live-on-stage as the award-winning Broadway show, A Christmas Story, The Musical, embarks on an eight-city National Tour this holiday season. Four leads from the 2015 tour will return to reprise their roles for the third season of Big League's critically acclaimed production. A Christmas Story, The Musical will debut in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre from November 29 - December 4 as part of the 2016/2017 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta season.
