BWW Review: Boston Playwright Theatre's THE HONEY TRAP a Brilliant Debut
by Andrew White
- Feb 23, 2017
Last weekend I visited one of my friends in the great theatre town of Boston; while there I got to see an exciting new play that by rights should be produced here in the Washington area, and soon. A new playwright, Leo McGann, born and raised in Belfast, has written 'The Honey Trap' and it is a work as mature and necessary as any I have seen--and over the years I've seen quite a lot.
BWW Review: Suspenseful New Drama THE HONEY TRAP at Boston Playwrights' Theatre
by Nancy Grossman
- Feb 21, 2017
Belfast native playwright Leo McGann and Director Adam Kassim have crafted a ready-for-prime-time taut, suspenseful drama about memories and guilt decades after the Troubles in Ireland. The cast is anchored by Boston theater pros Barlow Adamson and Maureen Keiller, along with an eager quartet of Boston University acting students. THE HONEY TRAP has universal appeal as it follows the journey of a troubled man.
BWW Review: FAITHLESS: A Family in Crisis
by Nancy Grossman
- Dec 17, 2016
FAITHLESS is an intimate study of a Boston Irish-Catholic family facing a crisis. Mom is dying, but the adult children have different beliefs, resulting in a debate about her fate and a rehashing of family history before any resolution is possible. Sitting in a hospital waiting room with these four actors, the audience recognizes these people and understands what they're going through. Can they find closure and rebuild lost connections?

BWW REVIEW: The God Complex, Anat Gov's 'Oh, God' at Israeli Stage
by Justin J Sacramone
- Apr 30, 2016
Stop me if you've heard this one before. God walks into a therapist's office and says he's depressed. The therapist asks "how long have you felt this way?" and God says, "something like...two thousand, two thousand five hundred years, give or take." "You've been depressed for two thousand years and only now you've come for therapy? What were you waiting for?" asks the therapist and God says "I thought time would heal." Sometimes, everyone needs a swift 90 minute session of cathartic therapy to unpack some problems festering for two thousand years. In Anat Gov's play "Oh, God," an earthly psychologist is chosen to have a session with the Big Guy about a 2000 year old itch.
