The New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC) held their 2009 benefit gala, 'Laugh Out Loud,' on Tuesday, February 24th at the Westside Loft in Manhattan. The gala was a night celebrating music, comedy, diversity and support for the LGBT community.

Met Opera Announces 2009 National Council Auditions Winners

The Metropolitan Opera today announced the winners of the 2009 National Council Auditions. They are: Paul Appleby of South Bend, Indiana; Anthony Roth Costanzo of Durham, North Carolina; Sung Eun Lee of Seoul, South Korea; and Nadine Sierra of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Selected from eight finalists who performed arias with the Met Orchestra, conducted by Patrick Summers, at the Grand Finals Concert on February 22, each winner takes away a cash prize of $15,000.

Nicole Cabell Makes Her Roy Thomson Hall Debut 3/8

American soprano Nicole Cabell, winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2005, makes her Roy Thomson Hall debut on Sunday, March 8 at 2 pm. She is joined by pianist Spencer Myer for a captivating program of art songs by Liszt, Obradors, Guastavino and Gordon, plus Leonard Bernstein's delightful song-cycle I Hate Music, and a selection of spirituals. The concert, part of Roy Thomson Hall's International Vocal Recitals, will be recorded live by CBC Radio for future broadcast. Ms. Cabell will be exclusively outfitted for the occasion by Canadian designer Rosemarie Umetsu.

14th Annual Ford Honors To Honor Royal Shakespeare Company

The 14th Annual Ford Honors will be held on January 24th at 6pm in Rackham Auditorium, 915 East Washington Street in Ann Arbor. The event will honor the Royal Shakespeare Company and its artistic director Michael Boyd, as well as the retiring U-M Professor of English Ralph Williams. The Ford Honors Program is a benefit that supports UMS's nationally-acclaimed arts education program. It is sponsored by Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. The Ford Honors Program celebrates the partnership between the University Musical Society, University of Michigan and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The evening will pay tribute to Boyd and Williams and will include a performance by members of the RSC. Following the performance there will be a benefit dinner held at the Michigan League Ballroom. There will be a presentation of the UMS School and Educator of the Year Awards. The gala dinner includes the presentation of the UMS School and Educator of the Year Awards, sponsored by DTE Energy Foundation. Tickets may be purchased for the concert only, or for the gala dinner (which includes concert tickets).

Blythe Sings Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice 'Orfeo' at MET

Director-choreographer Mark Morris's much-lauded 2007 production of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice returns to the repertoire, with Stephanie Blythe taking on one of the pinnacles of the mezzo-soprano repertory, the role of Orfeo, for the first time in her career. Soprano Danielle de Niese, an acclaimed singer of eighteenth-century music and a graduate of the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, sings Euridice for the first time at the Met. Heidi Grant Murphy returns as Amor, which she performed at the production's premiere in 2007.

Scott Nevins will lead the evening with his signature humor and flare. With entertainment by Broadway notables including Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz McCartney and the Tony-nominated Sharon McNight, the gala will be a night celebrating music, diversity and support for the LGBT community. Zambello of 'The Little Mermaid' to Receive French Honor
