South Coast Repertory's 2014-15 season moves from the Mediterranean island in Shakespeare's The Tempest to Cornwall in a new take on the classic Tristan & Yseult, from Mecca in Zealot by Theresa Rebeck to an updated look at the Land of Oz in OZ 2.5 by Catherine Trieschmann. SCR will present classic, contemporary and new works, including Mr. Wolf by Rajiv Joseph, Of Good Stock by Melissa Ross and Peter and the Starcatcher by Rick Elice. Season subscriptions are available now; single tickets will go on sale on Aug. 1.

The 17th Annual Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival, scheduled to be held June 13 - 14, announced three theatres coming together in the Rocky Mountains to develop new works. Actors Theatre of Louisville (Kentucky), Primary Stages (New York) and South Coast Repertory (California) are confirmed for the festival that is presented under Artistic Director Andrew Leynse (Artistic Director, Primary Stages), Producer and Director of Theatre Emily Tarquin (Denver Center Theatre Company, CO) and Executive Producer Jim Steinberg. The festival is sponsored by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust.

Fifty years ago, a band of young actors-led by a duo fresh out of San Francisco State-came together through a love of theatre. When they officially formed as a company, South Coast Repertory, the group's first production was Moliere's classic, Tartuffe. As SCR concludes its 50th Season this year, it comes full circle with a new production of Tartuffe, directed by Dominique Serrand, today, May 9-June 8, on the Segerstrom Stage.

A big hit with audiences during the 2006-07 season, James and the Giant Peach in 2014 will offer a memorable experience for new and returning playgoers as a part of SCR's Theatre for Young Audiences series. Casey Stangl, director of last season's Anastaisa Krupnik, returns to direct this adaptation by David Wood of the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl, James and the Giant Peach. The show runs tonight, Feb. 7-23 at South Coast Repertory on the Julianne Argyros Stage.

SCR announced that it will produce Five Mile Lake by Rachel Bonds on the Julianne Argyros Stage. The new work is an intimate look at life in a small town and is the final world premiere work for the company's 50th Season. The show runs April 13-May 4 and is an anchor production for the 17th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. It will be directed by Daniella Topol. Tickets are available online: www.scr.org.

Gate Theatre's 'I'll Go On' by Samuel Beckett opened Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre. A celebrated interpreter of Beckett, Barry McGovern is known to Los Angeles audiences for his performance as Vladimir in the acclaimed 2012 production of 'Waiting for Godot' at the Mark Taper Forum (LADCC Awards, Best Revival and Best Ensemble; Ovation Award Best Production and Best Ensemble).
