The composing team of Gitter and Berg turn out some very serviceable tunes that drive both the story and the character arcs with a simple style that helps the passionate performers invest their characters with a lot of heart.

Penguin Rep Theatre will present the world premiere of The Sabbath Girl, a new musical with book by Cary Gitter, lyrics by Neil Berg and Mr. Gitter, and music by Mr. Berg, beginning Friday, May 3, in Stony Point, New York.

Produced by Penguin Rep, THE SABBATH GIRL begins performances on Tuesday, February 11 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 8. Press opening is Sunday, February 16 at 2:15 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:15 pm; Saturday at 2:15 pm & 7:15 pm; Sunday at 2:15 pm. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Brooklyn based theatre collective The Artful Conspirators present Leaving IKEA: a play in two cantos directed by David A. Miller. The play, written by Monica Flory and Dano Madden, will receive its World Premiere June 7 to 24, 2012 at the Brooklyn Lyceum.
